Fact-Checking Policy
Trust is built on accuracy. Every factual claim on this site must be traceable to a primary source, a partner-approved document, or a clearly labelled worked assumption. This is core to our Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T).

Primary Sources First
We prioritise primary sources over secondary reporting. We do not rely on other blogs, news aggregators, or media outlets for financial facts. When a new tax rule is announced, we wait for the official HMRC publication before updating our guidance.
- GOV.UK and HMRC guidance for tax, payment, and company obligations
- Companies House for company registration and filing requirements
- The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) register for regulatory status and safeguarding rules
- Provider-published pricing, terms, and legal documentation for financial products
Rates, Fees, and Offer Terms
Rates and tax thresholds change frequently. Where a figure is highly time-sensitive (such as the current VAT threshold or Corporation Tax rate), we prefer to point you directly to the official GOV.UK source rather than restating a number that may age badly and mislead you.
Partner offer terms (such as referral codes and promo codes) are only published from provider-approved materials. We verify these terms directly with partner management teams. If our working notes and the approved terms differ, the approved terms always control. We never publish 'leaked' or unverified promotional codes.
Calculators and Worked Examples
All our calculators and tools explicitly list their mathematical formulas and the assumptions they rely on. There is no 'black box' logic. If a calculator assumes a flat 13.8% Employer National Insurance rate for planning purposes, we state that assumption clearly.
Worked examples in our guides are illustrative and deliberately use round numbers to avoid the illusion of false precision. They are clearly labelled as examples and are never presented as guaranteed or typical results.
Handling Errors
If we get something wrong, we correct it. Material errors affecting a financial decision are corrected as a priority, and the page carries a visible correction note in its update log. See our Corrections Policy for exactly how to report an issue and how we will respond.
