Who Writes This Site
Daniel Mercer writes and edits everything published here. He is a business owner who learned the money side the hard way — not an accountant, not a chartered finance director and not a regulated financial adviser.

Where the point of view comes from
Daniel has been on the wrong side of most of the problems covered here: a tax bill that arrived without the money set aside, invoices paid sixty days late, pricing that looked profitable until the year-end accounts said otherwise.
He started his first limited company in 2018, scaling it from a single desk to a team of five, managing cash flow, payroll, and corporate tax entirely from the director's chair. This site exists because the financial guidance available to small business owners is usually written by accountants for other accountants, or by SEO copywriters who have never actually had to make payroll on a Friday afternoon.
Writing from experience does not change our obligations. Everything published here must still be accurate, balanced and clearly sourced to GOV.UK or another primary reference where rules are involved.
What we do not claim
We do not claim accountancy qualifications, professional registrations, client lists, business exits, revenue figures or awards for Daniel Mercer. We do not pretend to be an institution.
Nothing written here should be read as advice from a regulated professional, or as a personal recommendation for your circumstances. We provide education, frameworks, and tools. We do not provide financial advice.
How first-person commentary is marked
First-person commentary appears in a labelled 'Daniel's perspective' box so you can always separate lived experience from the sourced, factual part of a guide. This ensures that the distinction between regulatory fact and personal business strategy remains absolute.
Portraits used across the site are stylised brand imagery rather than documentary photography, but the person, the experience, and the authorship are entirely real.
Who is responsible
The site owner is responsible for all published content, commercial relationships and corrections. We do not outsource our editorial accountability to third-party agencies or AI generation tools. Contact details are on our contact page.
