Deadlines

  • Card spend milestone: 30 days from account opening
  • Savings deposit: 7 days from account opening
  • Savings balance held: 30 consecutive days

Eligibility

  • UK sole traders, limited companies and eligible partnerships accepted by Tide's onboarding checks
  • New Tide customers only
  • Account must be opened with the code applied at sign-up

Exclusions

  • Transfers between your own accounts do not count as qualifying card spend
  • Cash withdrawals, reversed or refunded transactions and declined payments are normally excluded
  • Existing or previously closed Tide accounts are normally excluded

Fees to know about

  • Tide plans range from a free account to paid plans with higher included allowances
  • Per-transfer, cash deposit and ATM fees can apply depending on plan

Things to weigh up

  • For new Tide sign-ups, Tide says the business account is provided by ClearBank. Eligible deposits held with ClearBank are FSCS-protected up to a total of £120,000, subject to the FSCS eligibility rules. Provider arrangements, eligibility rules and compensation limits can change. Recheck Tide's current safety page and the FSCS checker before depositing a material balance.
  • Holding £5,000 in a savings pot to earn a reward is only sensible if that money is genuinely spare.

When the reward is paid

Rewards are paid by Tide after each milestone is verified, typically within a number of weeks of qualification.

Step-by-step guide to claiming the Tide referral code

Step 1: Open your account. Start your application using the link on this page. During the sign-up process, ensure the referral code REFER200 is entered in the designated field before completing your application. The code cannot be added after the account is open.

Step 2: Spend £100 on your card. To unlock the first £75 reward, you must make at least £100 of qualifying card spend within 30 days of your account opening. Qualifying spend means genuine purchases; ATM withdrawals, transfers, and reversed transactions are excluded.

Step 3: Deposit £5,000 into an Instant Saver. To unlock the remaining £125 reward, you must deposit a minimum of £5,000 into an eligible Tide Instant Saver account within 7 days of opening your account. You must maintain this balance for 30 consecutive days.

Step 4: Receive your rewards. Tide pays each part of the reward directly into your primary Tide business account. Payments are processed after Tide verifies that the relevant milestone has been met, which typically takes a few weeks.

Eligibility checklist before you use REFER200

The code does not decide whether Tide will open an account. Tide’s current partner page says applicants must be over 18, have a UK-based business, show valid photo ID and upload a selfie. Tide can apply further onboarding checks, so use this as a preparation checklist, not an approval prediction.

  • Check that you are a new Tide customer and that REFER200 is visible during sign-up before you submit.
  • Have valid photo ID and a way to complete the required identity and selfie checks.
  • Check that the business is UK-based and that the chosen account and plan fit its normal transaction, cash-deposit and currency needs.
  • Decide whether £5,000 can remain in the eligible Instant Saver for the required 30 days without using tax, payroll, supplier or delivery cash.
  • Retain the application date and code-entry screen rather than assuming the code can be added later.

Plan the two reward deadlines before opening the account

Put the milestones on a dated note before the account is opened. The dates are different, and completing one does not complete the other. The below is a planning aid based on the approved partner record; Tide’s current campaign terms control if a date or condition changes.

The Instant Saver milestone is a cash-access decision as well as a reward condition. Do not move money required for a known tax, payroll, supplier or delivery commitment merely to meet it. The current savings product, rate and access terms may change, so check Tide’s live savings information before depositing a material balance.

REFER200 is not a Tide member’s Refer a Friend code

REFER200 is the approved partner code promoted by Founder Finances. It is not the same promotion as a Tide member’s personal Refer a Friend code. Use the code intended for the campaign you are joining, check that it appears during sign-up and keep a record of the application screen. Do not assume that two Tide promotions can be combined: the current public Refer a Friend terms do not formally confirm that they can.

What counts as qualifying card spend?

The £100 card spend requirement is strict. Tide only counts genuine business purchases made using your physical or virtual Tide card. This includes online software subscriptions, travel expenses, equipment purchases, and supplier payments made by card.

The following transactions do not count towards the £100 threshold:

  • Cash withdrawals from ATMs.
  • Account-to-account bank transfers (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments).
  • Payments to financial services providers or cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Transactions that are subsequently refunded, reversed, or declined.

How Tide account protection currently works

For new Tide sign-ups, Tide says the business account is provided by ClearBank. Eligible deposits held with ClearBank are FSCS-protected up to a total of £120,000, subject to the FSCS eligibility rules.

The limit is per eligible depositor, per authorised firm and can combine eligible balances held with ClearBank through Tide and any other ClearBank accounts. A sole trader is treated in the individual or sole-trader category for FSCS purposes, so do not assume a separate personal and sole-trader limit at the same authorised firm.

Tide is the platform and service provider; ClearBank provides the underlying business account. Savings products can have a different provider and protection arrangement, so check the provider named in the product terms before depositing.

Verified 2026-08-22. Provider arrangements, eligibility rules and compensation limits can change. Recheck Tide's current safety page and the FSCS checker before depositing a material balance.

Is the Tide £200 offer worth it?

The reward is relevant only if you were already choosing an account and can meet both milestones without changing normal cash discipline. The £5,000 Instant Saver requirement should be tested against the next tax, payroll, supplier and delivery dates before opening the account.

Holding an amount for 30 days can have an opportunity cost even when the account balance looks healthy. If it would make the business late paying an essential commitment, remove a cash buffer or create a need for borrowing, the reward does not justify the cash risk. Check the current Instant Saver access and rate terms rather than assuming the name of the product determines how it works for your position.

Tide has a £0/month Free plan, but current transaction, ATM, cash-deposit and foreign-currency charges vary by plan and use. Compare those ongoing costs, the account workflow and the savings condition with the business’s normal needs rather than choosing an account solely for a short campaign.

If a Tide reward is missing or delayed

First check each milestone against the relevant date: whether REFER200 appeared before submission, whether the card spend cleared within 30 days, and whether the eligible £5,000 balance was deposited on time and held for the required period. Refunds, reversals and excluded transactions should not be treated as qualifying spend.

If the reward still does not appear after Tide’s stated verification window, contact Tide through its current support channel. Provide the code, application reference, opening date, relevant transaction references and Instant Saver evidence. Do not make extra or unnecessary purchases to chase a reward. Ask Tide to identify the campaign condition it considers unmet and check the current campaign terms before deciding what to do next.

Official sources and update checks

The approved Tide REFER200 partner page is the campaign source. The separate current Tide Refer a Friend page and its promotion terms explain the member-referral programme, not the approved REFER200 campaign.

Founder Finances last checked these campaign and product sources on 27 August 2026. Tide can change eligibility, plan costs, account features, reward conditions and campaign availability. The dated central offer record and source log are maintained together; Tide’s current terms control if they differ from a summary on this page.

Tide referral code FAQs

What is the Tide referral code?

The Tide referral code on this page is REFER200. Applying it when you open a Tide business account makes the account eligible for up to £200 in cash rewards, paid in two stages once you meet the card spend and savings deposit milestones.

How do I use the Tide referral code REFER200?

Start your Tide business account application through the link on this page, enter the referral code REFER200 during sign-up before the account is opened, and complete Tide's onboarding checks. The code cannot normally be applied after the account is open.

How much is the Tide referral code worth?

£200 in total. £75 unlocks after £100 or more of qualifying Tide card spend within 30 days of opening, and a further £125 unlocks after depositing £5,000 into an eligible Tide Instant Saver within 7 days and maintaining the required balance for 30 days.

When does Tide pay the £200 referral reward?

Tide pays each part of the reward after it verifies the relevant milestone, typically within a number of weeks of qualification rather than instantly.

Who is eligible for the Tide referral code?

New Tide customers only — UK sole traders, limited companies and eligible partnerships that pass Tide's onboarding and identity checks. Existing or previously closed Tide accounts are normally excluded.

What does not count as qualifying card spend?

Transfers between your own accounts, cash withdrawals, declined payments and reversed or refunded transactions are normally excluded from the £100 card spend milestone.

What if the Tide reward does not arrive?

Check the code-entry evidence, opening date, cleared card-spend record and Instant Saver balance history against the campaign milestones. If the conditions appear met, contact Tide through its current support channel with the application and transaction references; do not make extra purchases just to chase a reward.

Can I combine REFER200 with a Tide member’s Refer a Friend code?

Do not assume that you can. REFER200 is the approved Founder Finances partner campaign, while Tide Refer a Friend uses an existing member’s unique code and its own terms. The current public Refer a Friend terms do not formally confirm that the two promotions can be combined.

Is the Tide referral code worth it?

It is worth it if you were opening a business account anyway and the £5,000 is genuinely spare money you can leave untouched for 30 days. If holding that balance would strain your working capital, the reward is not worth the cash-flow risk.
